Online compiling of TikZ gallery examples
Since today there’s a new feature in the TikZ example gallery: all TikZ examples are connected to an online compiler, done in a cooperation between TeXample.net and writeLaTeX.com.
On each example page and also in the gallery views, you can see [TeX] and [PDF] buttons for downloading. Now there are new links: [Open in writeLaTeX]. Just a single click and you will land in the online editor which shows the code on the left side, and the output preview on the right side, automatically compilated in realtime.
Currently the output preview is shown as a bitmap image. It can be scaled which affects the sharpness. However, you can export the image in the writeLaTeX interface to PDF format for the best resolution. Or right-click the image and choose “Show image” in the context menu.
Note, some examples require two compiler runs, for example when overlays are used, so you may need to refresh the preview for final positioning of TikZ elements.
Now can directly edit and modify examples, starting with a single click, even without having a local TeX installation. So you can enjoy programming with TikZ examples even on your iPad, your Android tablet or your smart phone.

Very cool feature Stefan! Some of the examples are quite demanding to compile, so I hope that writeLaTeX.com have good servers :)
I thought similarly, so I sent writeLaTeX some complex examples via email. I'm sure their service can handle it, but it might be a question of balancing when to stop compilation with a timeout, to not let compilations block processor capacity in case of endlessly looping TeX code.
I am actually using scientific workplace in my memoir but I don't know how to compile only my supervisos can do it, it would be helpfull to receive instructions of how to compile.
Adding comments is currently not enabled.
